MP for Mid-Leicestershire, Peter Bedford, raises his concerns of cross-boundary planning applications and how they affect areas of his constituency.
The thrust of the debate was to raise the planning anomalies when planning applications span more than one planning authority as seen in Markfield (Leicester Road) and Glenfield (Old Western Park Golf Course land).
Peter said: “Since my election, I have been concerned at the level of speculative and often predatory housing developments springing up across Mid Leicestershire.
“This has been made worse by the lack of local plans, and the fact that many of these proposals span multiple district/borough council boundaries.
“It was great to be able raise this issue with the Minister on the floor of the House of Commons, and I look forward to following this up with further discussions on what more Government can do to protect rural areas like ours in Mid Leicestershire.”
