On Friday 3rd November Peter visited Mountsorrel Quarry to meet with Tarmac Management to discuss residents' concerns about the pending quarry extension.
The lunchtime meeting, including a tour of the quarry operations, was constructive and included discussions on dust, noise and the environmental impact of the proposals.
Peter is keen to work with both residents and the quarry operators to ensure that the concerns of local residents are addressed and that any issues arising are appropriately mitigated.
Speaking after the meeting Peter said
I would like to thank Tarmac for inviting me today to discuss the concerns that residents have.
It was helpful to hear the measures they are introducing, and their proposals to restore woodland affected by any extension to the quarry.
The Quarry currently has 15 years left under existing arrangements, with a further 18 years proposed under the pending extension application with Leicestershire County Council.
