At a meeting of Leicestershire County Council's Cabinet, on Friday 9th February, Peter made the point that equality goes beyond gender, race and sexuality.
Peter commented that too often organisations place significant emphasis on the above, with not enough focus on candidates/employees socio-economic backgrounds.
Coming from a single parent family myself I know the challenges faced by so many in getting a good education, career and start in life.
Supporting those from less well off backgrounds is key to creating a more equal, a more successful society for individuals, their families and communities.
