Peter recently attended the Conservative Councillors' Association (CCA) Conference in Kenilworth to discuss the challenges facing local government; and the actions being taken to ensure that service delivery is reformed for the 21st Century. The Conference was well attended by over a hundred delegates from authorities from across the UK.
Mid Leicestershire Councillor, and Deputy Leader of Leicestershire County Council, Deborah Taylor was also in attendance and challenged Government Ministers on the need for a fairer financial settlement for Leicestershire, as well as reforms to statutory duties placed on local authorities.
Speaking after the event Peter said
It's been really useful to raise the many challenges that Mid Leicestershire residents face with Government Ministers.
Housing & Development, Flood Management, the pressures of Adult Social Care, and SEN continue to bare down on local authorities.
We are confident that our message is getting through to Whitehall so that more power, and money, is devolved to local communities - who are best placed to prioritise investment and service delivery.
